What obstacles are people facing when wanting to get tattooed?

I know as well as anyone that tattoos and art are luxury items. It’s not easy to spend money on something like this when you have priorities to tend to. Tax time seems to be the easiest time for people to spend money on something they wouldn’t normally spend money on due to a sudden influx of money.

Another way to save money for a tattoo when that doesn’t seem possible is to start a tattoo jar. Put a jar in your closet and stuff $20 or $40 a week in it and don’t touch it. After 3 or 4 months, you have enough for a nice sitting. The key is to not touch that money no matter what.

One more option is to ask your tattoo artist if they will barter for tattoo work. I know I’m always willing to tattoo for something I can sell since that is pretty much like money anyways. Bikes, computers, electronics, motorcycle parts, furniture are a number of things I’m interested in tattooing for if they’re in decent shape of course.
